Jeff, great article and right on point. Many don’t realize the many benefits of helping others or the return in personal terms or business. Word of mouth marketing from helping someone else who desperately needs it can and does payoff. It nay not be today, however in time it will.

Since having my own startup blow up by an investor/Board of Directors greed (you can read the post, in detail on my Medium page) I’ve spent the past year plus helping startups find their product/market fit, develop marketing campaigns, teaching how to use social media and social media marketing effectively for free while working through a slow court process. That stated, there are many personal benefits from this, including:

• My skills stay current
• I learn everyday
• Startups that were at deaths door are now turning the corner to profitability or are now profitable
• Longterm in depth relationships are formed
• A network is built
